About us
Transport for communities is a partnership between two individuals, who between them have nearly fifty years experience within the voluntary and community sector, much of which has been in community transport. For more details about our experience, please click here.
Our belief
We believe that community transport has the potential to make a difference to people’s lives in a way that statutory and private solutions cannot.
Our mission
Simply put, we aim to help transport operators of whatever size or complexion realise their potential.
Our approach
Our approach is hands on and realistic; our practical experience of managing and operating organisations enables us to “roll our sleeves up” and get involved in the detail of planning and running a community transport operation.
This practical knowledge is supported by solid experience of developing the strategic role and potential of social needs transport, through working with transport authorities, funders and other stakeholders at a senior level.
Our principles
We are committed to the principle that everybody is entitled to equality
of opportunity. We will attempt to reflect this principle in every aspect
of our work, including published material.
We believe, and will apply, the following principles in developing services:
- services should be needs (not service) led
- services should be suitable for and responsive to service users’ expressed preferences
- services should be delivered by the most cost-effective method possible
- services should include mechanisms for real and continuing input from service users
