The services CT provides
CT achieves its aim of combating social exclusion by providing a range of services to people and communities. These include:
Minibus services
Shared transport for a wide range of community groups, from under 5s groups to over 60s clubs.
Individual door-to-door services for passengers who find it difficult or impossible to use mainstream transport. For example, Dial A Ride.
Community Buses
Regular, timetabled bus services with volunteer drivers.
Contracted Services
Home to school transport
Social Services day centre transport
PSV services
Note: local transport authorities have the power to award certain bus contracts without the need for competitive tendering. For a guide to how these "de Minimis" rules work, go to our free information page
Demand Responsive Transport
Services for the public, which adapt their itinerary and timetable to suit changing transport demand. Often door-to-door, these use paid drivers, operating minibuses or smaller vehicles such as people-carriers. (More information about DRT and its role in integrated public transport systems is available on our free information page)
Community Car Services
Door to door transport for individuals using volunteer drivers, either with their own CT-owned cars or people carriers, for passengers who cannot use public transport.
Vehicle brokerage & management
Training
To nationally accredited MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) standards, for drivers and passenger assistants.
Wheelchair loan
Goods vehicle hire
Recycling
Furniture recycling collection and redistribution of household goods. Community recycling projects.
The core services, common to all operators, are Minibus Services.
